Owls are so popular right now and what better way to dress up your little one this Halloween then with this super cute DIY Owl Costume from Killer B. Design.  This owl wings costume looks like it’s pretty simple to make using only felt, a scrap of fabric, ribbon plus a needle and thread and she topped it all off with a crocheted owl hat that she already had.  Such a cute design that you could make work for boy, girl or any other type of bird.

COUPLES: Bowler and Bowling Pin Costumes

Jodi and Meaningful Mama is a costume genius! (You can see her sweet Candy Land family costumes here.) Here’s what Jodi said, “I was really pregnant when I came up with this idea. I was really hoping I would make it to Halloween just so I could wear the costume! I made the bowling pin out of felt. I cut out the shape of the pin, sewed on the red stripes and sewed the two pieces together and cut out holes for my belly and face. I used wire hangers taken apart to make the structure stand tall.” Oh and of course she added 3 little felt dots to her bowling ball belly!

KIDS: Easy Lion Costume

Not only is this lion costume by A Night Owl Blog ridiculously adorable, it’s also super easy to make. There is absolutely no sewing required, and all you really need is yarn and scissors to make the mane. Then just add on a nose ans whiskers with brown eye liner or face paint, and pair it with a yellow tshirt and jeans.

All you really need to know how to do is to make pom poms out of yarn. This lion costume would be perfect for Halloween, or a special costume party, but it’s also so cute and simple it would be a fun craft to make and to add to your kid’s costume collection for fun and creative dress-up play.

KIDS: DIY Game boy costume

As a child of the 80’s, I loved my Game Boy and Tetris was my absolute fave! I still love me some Tetris! I decided it would be fun to turn my sweet baby into one of my beloved childhood toys and make him a DIY Game Boy costume out of a onesie.

101+ Handmade Halloween costumes at Creating Really Awesome Free Things

Here’s what you need to make the DIY game boy oneisie:

  • white onesie
  • sheets of felt
  • fabric glue
  • fabric scissors
  • a brown lunch sack (or something else to slide inside for the onesie while gluing)

Word to the wise, let the fabric glue dry completely! And don’t expect this onesie costume to be washable. If you’re using fabric glue, this onesie will only last the night. Sewing it all done would be easy and make the costume last a whole heck of a lot longer. First cut out all of your pieces from the felt.

The DIY Studio whipped up this adorable kids DIY gumball machine costume! She used a vinyl shower curtain as the plastic pouch that covers the gum balls (or felt balls)! This costume requires some sewing, but it’s totally worth the work! You can see the complete costume tutorial over at the DIY Studio.

Theses girls bought the Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress from American Appear and glued on giant rhinestones over their belly buttons to create DIY troll costumes. Randi crafted up a clever gum ball machine costume for her little girl! Best of all, she used things from the dollar store. The plastic gum ball holder… that’s just a one dollar plastic bowl! Genius!

KIDS: Handamde Gator Boys Costumes

Have you every heard of the show Gator Boys? For those of you that don’t know, it comes on Animal Planet and it’s about “two extraordinary alligator trappers who risk injury and death to hand-capture nuisance alligators that have invaded the back yards, swimming pools, garages and bedrooms of Florida Everglades residents.” Kimberly from a A Night Owl whipped up these awesome handmade Gator Boys costumes for her kiddos since they love the show! The costume is no sew and involves just a little painting a crafting up an alligator tooth necklace and cowboy hat. Camouflage pants and a blue bandana and your all set!
