These are the prettiest handmade dress up wings I’ve ever seen! Seriously, I want a pair for me! Prudent baby, guest poster, Eri shares a step by step tutorial about how to make the wings. This is a great project to use some pretty fabric scraps.

KIDS: Handmade wagon costume

Halloween costume parades are fun, and what better way to  ensure  your kiddo stays in the wagon than to cage ’em in the sucker, ha! Just kidding about that, but isn’t this handmade wagon costume genius! I wish I knew who actually made this, but I loved the costume so much I’ve saved these 2  pictures on my computer for years (pre pinterest era!). Basically it’s just a painted card board box with a hole cut out for the kid’s head. Oh and the picture on the camera screen is a must!

Be prepared to be amazed!

Although, I’ve never seen the movie, Alien, I’ve got a pretty feel for what it’s about ; ) Claudia’s husband turned their 7 year old boy into the main monster from the movie, The  Zenomorph! Claudia said, “We bought a surfing outfit as the base and glued various things onto the suit.  The head was molded from plastic and set on a helmet.  There were also gloves and shoe covers made from felt with pieces glued to the felt.” her husband worked on this masterpiece for 40+ hours! This is one really awesome handmade alien Halloween costume!

Mexican inspired handmade costumes

Happy Cinco de Mayo! In honor of Cinco de Mayo we are featuring 4 Mexican inspired handmade costumes!

Frida Kahol was a was a Mexican painter, who is best known for her self-portraits (more info on Wikipedia).You’ll need clip on Flowers, eyeliner pencil, earrings, scarf, and a dress for this costume. ADULTS: Paper Doll Costume

How fun is this paper doll costume for Halloween? Megan from the Brassy Apple crafted up this really awesome paper doll costume for her daughter. She used foam core board, XACTO, spray adhesive, and fabric! Oh and don’t forget the most important part, the tabs!

KIDS: Homemade Scuba Diver Costume

Lindsay at the Artsy Fartsy Mama crafted up a clever homemade scuba diver costume for her little miss! The costume started as a plain black shirt and black pants. Lindsay and her husband made an air tank out of 2 liter soda bottles, spray paint, and cord keeper tube! The pink fins are made of craft foam and taped to her shoes. I love that she even has her weights attached to her waist to help her submerge  She looks ready to scuba dive to me!

Happy World Penguin Day! Learn something new everyday, right?!  In honor of World Penguin day, we’ve got an adorable handmade penguin costume for a kiddo. Make It and Love It sewed this really awesome handmade, fleece penguin costume for her baby girl. The best part, big brother was Bert and big sister was Mary Poppins! KIDS: Mad Scientist Costume

In honor of World Laboratory Day, yep that exists! It’s today April 24th. We are celebrating with 2 different versions of a mad scientist costume. Both, of course, are really awesome and handmade! Nob Hill made her little boy a mad scientist costume with a large white button down, black pants, a crazy wig, and the most important accessory, lab goggles! GROUPS: Handmade Toy Story Costumes

Valerie from Occasionally Crafty crafted up some really awesome handmade Toy Story costumes for Halloween. Jessie, the cowgirl, started as a plain white button down. Valerie sewed on the fancy details  yellow bib, large round buttons, and fancy cuffs. Of course, Jessie has to have a red cowgirl hat and a long red braid! The baby potato head bib is made of broadcloth fabric with felt pieces for the face!

KIDS: Hedgehog Costume

Alida from Alida Makes turned her toddler into a hedgehog! How cute is that? All you need is a tan hoodie, fleece, and a sewing machine to make the hedgehog costume… heck you could hot glue if sewing isn’t your thing!
